LIFE Certification

How does the process work?

LIFE Certification is a voluntary process based on audits performed by independent certifying bodies accredited by the LIFE Institute, according to international best accreditation practices.

In countries where LIFE Certification is already implemented, the organization that wishes to be certified should contact one of the certifying bodies listed on LIFE Institute´s website for further information about the process.

The LIFE certification process consists of three types of audits:

  • Certification audit (year 0)
  • Annual follow-up audit (years 1-4)
  • Recertification audit (5 years)

At the Certification audit (year 0) the organization must demonstrate compliance with the minimum requirements of the methodology to get certified. During the following four years the organization undergoes Annual follow-up audits by certifying bodies in order to verify its performance.
